Finally, a "vacation"

We’ve had a pretty rough week at the Meyer household so Mike and I decided to spend the night at Alyeska Ski Resort for a night. Growing up I came here a lot during the winter. My step dad was a liquor salesmen so he did a lot of promotions/parties at the lodge during skiing and snowboarding season so we got to stay in the hotel for free over the weekends. I have so many great memories here especially at the pool… I would spend pretty much the whole weekend at the pool. I even learned how to swim here at Alyeska and that’s where I am going with this post…

Aubrey went swimming for the first time this weekend and she loved it! It meant a lot to me that it was in the pool that I grew up swimming in. When I used to come here as a kid the pool was a regular chlorine pool but now it’s a heated salt water pool. I don’t think I would have felt comfortable having Aubrey in the water if it had been a chlorine pool still.

This night at Alyeska was some good closure to a really rough week and to the fact that we will be leaving Alaska next month. I just couldn’t leave here without coming here one more time. Maybe one day when we can afford it we will make a family ski trip up here.
